ReadMOre is an annual statewide reading celebration that engages libraries, schools, private book clubs, booksellers, avid readers and others to focus their attention on a compelling piece of literature.
Interested participants read the selection and have opportunities to attend book discussions and other engaging activities hosted by libraries, schools, at book clubs and by other organizations across the state. Everyone is invited to participate!
How did this program get started?
In 2001, an ad hoc group of librarians (both public and academic) launched ReadMOre to promote the value of literature by engaging readers in shared activities. Interest in the program has been spreading across Missouri ever since.
In 2002, the Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) began its collaboration with the ReadMOre team, offering both financial and consultative support for the program.

What makes ReadMOre special?
ReadMOre introduces dynamic stories that stimulate engagement, conversation, and dialogue. It works conscientiously to promote and provide programming that further stimulates interest and interaction. Finally, ReadMOre offers support that builds enthusiasm among both host organizations and readers alike.
When does ReadMOre happen?
Each October, ReadMOre announces the reading selection for the following year. Host organizations are encouraged to conduct their ReadMOre activities in March, April, and May as statewide media attention and supporting program opportunities are concentrated in these months. Promotional support is available on this website all year for those wanting to schedule their program at another time.
